Hilton Head Owners Give Back

Owners Make Masks During Their Stay

As a Member, your villa becomes a home away from home while you’re on vacation. This was especially true for a pair of Marriott Vacation Club Owners, Mr. Bob and Mrs. Gail Mahoney.

The Mahoneys have been Marriott Vacation Club Owners since 1989. Mr. Mahoney used to travel often for work and would often stay in Marriott properties. Once he retired, the couple decided to become Owners to continue to travel to their favorite places without having to worry about owning a second home. They’ve owned at several Marriott Vacation Club resorts but travel to Hilton Head most often.

“It’s been so flexible,” Mrs. Mahoney said. “We can get rental cars or fly our children down. Owner Services has been great. They help you with anything you need help with.”

The Mahoneys were recently vacationing at Marriott’s Crystal Shores on Marco Island before the COVID-19 crisis hit.

“I can’t say enough about the staff. They’ve been so wonderful,” Mrs. Mahoney said. Mrs. Mahoney is an avid, talented sewer who always travels with a sewing kit. To show appreciation for the associates at the resort, she began to sew masks in bright and cheery colors. Mr. Mahoney personally delivered them to the associates.

“We all felt so overwhelmed and wanted to do something to help,” she said. “It’s nice to do something happy and positive.”

The Mahoneys have sewn and distributed more than 40 masks to resort associates as well as guests. Mrs. Mahoney shared that she’d given one couple a pair of masks before they left to return home to Pennsylvania. Upon their return, Mrs. Mahoney received a kind message saying that they’d used them on the way home and continued to use them all the time.

“It gives you a good feeling to be able to do something positive.”
